This housing complex, located in Hoorn in the north-western part of the Netherlands, consists of several buildings, a green, semi-public courtyard and a 60m-high tower which boasts superb views over the historic city.
The buildings contain 209 apartments in total, as well as two double-storey penthouses located at the top of the tower. These penthouses are characterized by double-layered outdoor spaces located within the façade’s frames. This guarantees a comfortable outdoor environment.
A visible element is the bold colour scheme chosen for the façade. By choosing five different grades of bricks, the architects created a look that blends with the historic brick architecture of Hoorn.
AluK Netherlands supplied the Kolos aluminium sliding system as well as their Triton solution. Both meet the high levels of air-tight and water-tight closure, as well as wind resistance and sound insulation, specified for this project.
